Renovation of water closet

The first stage of the renovation was decided to be the water closet in order to ensure access for the workers to clean bathrooms and wash areas during the following work stages.

The old water system was completely out of order with rusty pipes. Broken joint, wash basin and taps. The work took (1) week to be completed. The renovation involved the following:

1. Supply of water for each of the toilets from the closest main supply point (allocated near the main entrance). Pipes used for the outdoor parts were all resistant to weather elements. Ordinary pipes were used for indoor water pipes.

2. A water tank (capacity 5 barrels) was placed on the roof top to supply both toilets.

3. Installation of a water boiler in one of the toilets and provision of hot and cold water to the basins and toilets.       4

4. Supply of water to the second toilet and water basins.

5. All broken water faucets and joints were replaced with new ones. The old ceramic sinks were repaired. All faulty parts, joints and hoses were replaced and a floater was installed to one of the old water tanks.7

6. Two of the water reservoirs of the toilet flush were replaced with new ones and two other were repaired.

7. An emergency shower was placed in one of the bathrooms for emergency cases.10

9. The receipt includes transport and installation fees.

Roof fixing report

For this work, vendor 3 (previously selected) was tasked with the refurbishments. The work involved the following:

1. Twelve Small ceiling windows that initially were leaking water and some of them were cracked were removed at the start of the work. The area including these windowswere all cleaned using hammers and drills and the old asphalt was removed. The debris were removed and the area cleaned again. These areas were treated several times with chemicals and the final layer a white coat (picture below) was applied. After this, the window frames were cleaned again and the windows were placed back to place and fixed.

2. The attic (or mansard) roof was leaking water due to visible cracks both on the roof top and the side walls. The outer layer was scraped and sanded using an electrical grinder. Then cleaned well and treated with multiple layers of chemical materials as in the picture.

3. Twelve water drains on the three roof tops of the building were clogged with asphalt that was melt from the summer heat over time. These drains were opened by chemical treatment and heat. These drains were cleaned afterwards and also treated with multiple layers of chemicals and coatings.

 4. This work took 10 days (8:30am-5:00pm) Refurbishment fees includes material and labor cost. Additionally, a monitor was appointed to stay with the workers (until 5:00 pm) and two cleaners to clean the entire roof of the building to prevent clog of the water drains with debris.
