Making composts in a practical session of Organic Farming
In the practice section of the Organic Farming lesson, final year Undergraduate students were taught how to create compost. This encourages them to collect waste and make organic fertilizer at home, as well as teaching local farmers how to benefit from their waste and reuse it by mixing them in an academic manner and using the final product as a safe, environmentally friendly, free, and simple fertilizer to improve their field and product quality. This type of activity connects with the sustainable development objectives of SDG12 (Responsible consumption and production), SDG13 Climate action by lowering methane emissions, a powerful greenhouse gas, by diverting trash from landfills, and Zero Hunger. SDG2 guarantees sustainable food production systems and implements resilient agricultural methods that boost productivity and output. Making composts can also link with life on land SDG6, Clean water and sanitation SDG6.
