Drug and New Treatments for Alzheimer Disease and the kinds of Food that reduce the developments of AD

In date 25/02/2019, Chemistry Department/ college of education, in the presence the head of department and Chemistry staff, the held a seminar titled “Drug and New Treatments for Alzheimer Disease and the kinds of Food that reduce the developments of AD’’, delivered by Lec. Rezan Saleh.  Seminar started With review on Alzheimer’s disease (AD) . Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive brain disease that destroys memory and other important mental functions. At first, someone with Alzheimer’s disease may notice mild confusion and difficulty remembering. Eventually, people with the disease may even forget important people in their lives and undergo dramatic personality changes. While we don’t yet have any drugs that can cure Alzheimer’s disease, there are some that can lessen the symptoms of this condition. And some may even slow the rate at which it develops. Two different types of medication are used to treat Alzheimer’s disease these are; Cholinesterase inhibitors and Memantine. However, researchers found that methylene blue targets marketed as (Rember) is the novel therapy for Alzheimer’s disease and dissolves tau protein aggregates in nerve cells of Alzheimer’s patients.

 Later She showed that a new study by researchers at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago shows a diet plan they developed — appropriately called the MIND diet may reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease by as much as 53 %. These diets are; Green leafy vegetables, Vegetables, Nuts, Berries, Beans, Whole grains, Fish, Poultry and Olive oil.
