Undergraduate Study at College of Engineering @ Salahaddin University-Erbil

Salahaddin University-Erbil  offers four-year program in Engineering (five years for Architecture Engineering)  in which students earn a BSc. Degree, commonly called a “college degree,” the undergraduate bachelor’s degree typically takes four years to complete and is comprised of 160 unit (credit) hours. The unit is defined as the 15 hours face to face meeting with the lecturer at classroom for theoretical teaching spanning 15 weeks, or 1 unit = 15 theoretical teaching hours  in classroom  or 30 practical teaching hour in Laboratory

The four years spent as an undergraduate at a university are typically known as the first year (freshman), 2nd year (sophomore), 3rd year (junior) and final year (senior).

Students study the core curriculum requirements at first year (Mathematics, Engineering Drawing, Statics, Dynamics, English Language, Kurdology (Humanity and liberal art) , Information Technology and  Critical Thinking. The other three years are spent taking courses that are more directly related to students major.

The College is a leading national centre for research, teaching and consultancy, consistently ranked the highest amongest Kurdistanian colleges of Engineering. We also have strong links with industry, with many research projects funded by industrial companies.

Our facilities are excellent: the new Dyson Centre for Engineering Design provides access to traditional hand and machine tools, as well as modern computer-controlled machinery and rapid prototyping; the Design and Project Office is equipped with more than 80 workstations; the library has 30,000 books and takes about 350 journals; and extensive mechanical and electrical workshops are available. The Department’s Language Programme for Engineers offers specialised courses at all levels in French, German, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese.

Students are required to complete six weeks of industrial experience by the end of the third year, obtained by deferring entry or during vacations. Our full-time Industrial Placement Co-ordinator helps deferred entrants and undergraduates to find suitable placements (in Kurdistan and abroad) and sponsorship.

Our degree is accredited by the Engineering Syndicate both in Kurdistand and Iraq, Engineering Union of Kurdistan, Engineering Union of Iraq,  and by all other major institutions in MENA countries.

Course Tuition Fees and Costs

There are three paths  for admission to the college of Engineering @Salahaddin University-Erbil,

The Central Admission (The ministry of Higher Education System): Free (no fees are  applied)

Parallel Study through the College admission system:  Tuition fee applied is 2,250,000 ID (approximate 1900 USD) per year.

Evening Study: through the College admission system: Tuition fee applied is 2,500,000 ID (approximate 2000 USD) per year.

The entry requirements to the college are:

Year 12 National exam certificate

The minimum 85% of GPA  of the year 12 national exam

The sum of  Physics and Mathematics grades of the Year 12 national Exam no less than 180

Finally the instruction medium of the college is English Language and the college welcomes international students.
