Saeed Rajab Yassen was born in Amedi, Duhok, Kurdistan, Iraq, on July 1, 1975. He has been the head of Petroleum and Chemical Engineering Department at Salahaddin University-Erbil since 2015. Previous to this appointment, he served as the quality assurance representative of the college of engineering. Added to this, Dr. Saeed has held a variety of positions at college of engineering (Deputy dean of college of engineering, deputy head of the mechanical engineering, and library manager of the college). In additional he has participated in intensive professional programs including college of engineering’s curriculum development program.

Dr. Saeed holds a Doctor of philosophy in Mechanical Engineering/ Energy from the School of Engineering and Technology at the University of Hertfordshire, UK, a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering/ Energy from AL-Mustansiriya University, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Mosul. His research concerned the modelling fluid flow and renewable energy.

Dr. Saeed has been awarded the Academic Excellence Award for the last three academic years by the Salahaddin University-Erbil.
