Salahaddin University-Erbil (SUE)

The college of law regarded as one of the significant and essential colleges in the University of Salahaddin. In 1985-1989 the college was initially established as a result of the ministry decision and was consisted of one department which was the department of law. Moreover, the college was first made of four lecturers including the dean and the assistant of the dean as following: Dr. Abdulrahman Rahim Abdulla; the dean of the college; Zhar Abdulkareem Abdulwahab; the assistant of the dean; Jabber Sabre Taha; and Saied Jabaar Hassan. Through the historical developments of the college, its name was changed five times from the date of its establishment:
1- The college of law 1985-1992, which was consisted of one department.
2- The college of law and politics 1992-2004, that was after the establishment of the political department in the year 1992.
3- After distinguishing the department of law and political science in 2004-2007 the name of the college changed to the college of law and the college of political science in 2004.
4- The college of law and politics 2007, that was due to the ministry decision of higher education in Kurdistan region no: n-310 on 28.8.2007, the decision was to cancel the college of the political science once again and changed to the college of law and politics that contained two departments, the law and politics.
5- After distinguishing the department of law and political science again in october 2018 the name of the college changed to the college of law and the college of political science.

*The evening section:
The evening section was established first in 1992-1993 under the name of the college of rights. later and as a result of decision of the higher education board no:9 in 1994 joined the university of Salahaddin. In addition, in 2003 the evening section of the political science was found. Besides, in 2008-2009 all the evening departments of the university of Salahaddin was separated to anew college and continued to act and started its teaching in 2009-2010

* Higher education:
The two department of the college in addition of bachelor’s degree were made accessible number of master and doctorate degree. The department of law: Master’s degree in the law department was recognized in 1993-1994 and in 1999-2000 doctorate was opened, until now 14; master and 52 PHD have been awarded. In addition of 30 master’s degrees and 12 PHD degrees in the department of politics.

The college contain 21 sections and units, as it holds 53 lecturer and 163 employees. likewise, the college is publishing its magazine that is one of the academic and scientific magazines under the name of the law and politics, until now 30 of this magazine was published. And there is annual scientific conference for the purpose of developing the student research, as there have been 4 conferences until now.
