On 5-7th November 2024, Dr. Shevan Jameel Jirjees, A Lecturer in Earth Sciences and Petroleum Department, participated to Conference (GeoKurdistan VI) in the Kurdistan Region held at University of Sulaimani/College of Science/Earth Sciences and Petroleum Department. Delivered a presentation Seminars in Conference about “Climate data analysis and drought indices for Sulaimaniyah region”. The conference was including a series of seminars and a panel discussion, focusing on the scientific researchers used to evaluate all related geology aspects including climate change’s effects on air quality, groundwater, surface water, and drought analysis in the region and natural resource management. Experts and researchers were discussed adaptation strategies and sustainable management approaches to mitigate environmental challenges and natural resource. The conference aligns with the objectives of SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and SDG 14 (Maintaining a Local Ecosystem) as part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It objectives to raise awareness and substitute academic discussions on climate resilience, natural resource sustainability, and ecosystem protection.
