Modern physics has posed problems for which mathematicians have developed

theoretical instruments and numerical methods intended to treat them

rigorously and to facilitate their analysis and simulation. We present

some problems from the industry as well as the mathematical concepts which are

associated with them, the results of collaborations between mathematicians and

physicists (heating engineers, mechanics, electronics, …
