On Thursday December 5th the PhD Candidate “Khadija Saed Ismael” of English Department, successfully completed her PhD Viva at “Dr. AbdulHamid Yaqoub Convention Hall” at College of Languages/ Salahaddin University. The project, which was supervised by Asst. Prof. Dr. Jwan Abdullah Ibrahim, was entitled “The Powerful Literary Voice in the Harlem Renaissance: A Study of Jean Tommers’ Cane (1923), Claude Mekay’s Home to Harlem (1928), and Zora Neale Hurston’s Their Eyes were Watching God (1937)”. The work is about one of the modern American literary movements in America, which tackle the oppression African American people were exposed to in twentieth century.
