On Monday 16th of May, 2022 the Dean of College of Education (Asst. Prof. Dr. Saed Omer Ibrahim) and the Head of English Department (Dr. Rawshan Ibrahim Tahir) awarded a group of English Department third stage students and a teacher facilitator (Asst. Lecturer Muhammad Abdulwahab Aziz) certificates of completion from a six-week virtual exchange program named (Global Solutions Conversations Program). The program was coordinated by the Career Development Centre (CDS) of Salahaddin University Hawler (SUH), and the participants were recruited by College of Education and Head of English Department.
In this program students from selected schools in the US, Jordan and Iraq meet live in binational groups to discuss global challenges inspired by the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Through a six-week virtual exchange consisting six binational calls, students practice cross cultural communication and learn about each other’s culture as they engage in the process of design thinking and discuss global issues in their community. This program is supported by the Stevens Initiative, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, with funding provided by the U.S. Government, and administered by the Aspen Institute.
